Air Quality and Mold Inspections
What is mold?
Mold is a type of fungus which grows quickly in damp environments. Mold grows on plants and fibers and is most often associated with damp, musty locations such as bathrooms, basements and attics. Mold releases tiny spores which travel through the air, can be breathed in and can cause illness. Children, the elderly, people with respiratory problems or immune system deficiencies are particularly at risk for mold related illnesses. If mold is spotted, it is a good indication of a moisture problem, which should be dealt with as soon as possible.
Types of Mold:
Black mold is common in South Florida. More info about the types of mold can be found on the EPA's website.
Why Inspect?
Mold can cause serious health problems as well as damaging the structural integrity of the building. A mold inspection will determine the presence of mold, the level of mold spores and the possible causes.
What can you do to prevent Mold?
Mold spores are allergens that can be found indoors and outdoors. Outdoor molds are present year-round in Florida. Moisture control is the key step in limiting indoor mold growth.
